We're Almost There!!!

Last weekend we finally had a chance to walk inside our new home.  When we signed the papers a month ago all we had to look at was the floor plan and a couple pictures of the exterior of the building during construction.  They still have to finish renovating the whole neighborhood as it was used to house all the Olympic athletes during their stay in Whistler. Right now there is still a temporary wall dividing our living area and kitchen and the kitchen still needs to be installed.  Hopefully we'll be able to move in by August.  So now the countdown begins.

 The exterior of our building.

I'm standing in the entryway taking a picture of Sean standing in the doorway of the second bedroom.  I think we're missing some closet doors.

Our master bedroom.

Our master bathroom.

Our dining/living room.  The wall on the right, including the door, is only temporary and will be removed before we move in.

We're Buying Our First Home

Its been awhile since I've posted anything.  Mostly because nothing interesting has really happened in our lives up until now.  That all changed on Wednesday.  That morning my husband's boss told him about a small one bedroom apartment that had come available in one of the neighborhoods we were looking at.  At the time we were on a wait list for for this neighborhood and we were #153 on the list.  Well, to make a long story short, I called the right person at the right time and two days later we were signing a contract for a 2 bedroom, 1015 sq. ft. condo in the new athletes village, Cheakamus Crossing, in Whistler, BC.

There were only two suites left in our price range and the one we chose just happen to be the my favourite floor plan.  I used to stair at it and dream of where we would place our furniture thinking to myself that we'd never be able to buy it.  Our dreams really are coming true (sorry for the cheese).

They aren't allowing anyone to drive through the neighborhood yet so I don't have any pictures yet but I did manage to find a couple on the internet.  Here are a few, including the floor plan of our suite.

Our Tiny Home

Currently my husband and I are living in a 400 sq.ft. studio.  We're on a waitlist to buy a home in Beautiful Whistler, BC.  Until that day comes, we'll stay in our tiny studio.  The first picture was taken from out bed which is right against the wall so you can imagine how small the room is.  Atleast we know we have somewhere to live during the 2010 Winter Olympics as so many renters in our area are getting the boot.  Unfortunately for some tenats owners want to rent out their suites for big bucks during the olympics which meens kicking the current tenants out.  .
