Birds, Birds, Birds

I was poking around on the internet when I looked up at the corner of my browser which is decorated by two birds.  This made me think of how much I love birds in art.   Here are a few items with birds as their subjects.  Enjoy!

New Home, New Craft Ideas

Since we signed the papers to buy our new home, all I can think about is decorating, painting walls, and DIY projects.  Here are a few projects I found on one of my favorite websites Better Homes and Gardens: DIY Ideas

Future Craft Room

Sean and I will be moving into our new home in about 6-7 months which means I will finally have a room to do my crafts in.  I've been searching the internet looking for decorating ideas for my new craft corner.  Here are a few inspirational pictures I like.

We're Buying Our First Home

Its been awhile since I've posted anything.  Mostly because nothing interesting has really happened in our lives up until now.  That all changed on Wednesday.  That morning my husband's boss told him about a small one bedroom apartment that had come available in one of the neighborhoods we were looking at.  At the time we were on a wait list for for this neighborhood and we were #153 on the list.  Well, to make a long story short, I called the right person at the right time and two days later we were signing a contract for a 2 bedroom, 1015 sq. ft. condo in the new athletes village, Cheakamus Crossing, in Whistler, BC.

There were only two suites left in our price range and the one we chose just happen to be the my favourite floor plan.  I used to stair at it and dream of where we would place our furniture thinking to myself that we'd never be able to buy it.  Our dreams really are coming true (sorry for the cheese).

They aren't allowing anyone to drive through the neighborhood yet so I don't have any pictures yet but I did manage to find a couple on the internet.  Here are a few, including the floor plan of our suite.

Volunteering is Such Hard Work

I'm finding it harder and harder to live without a dog in my life so I decided to start volunteering at the shelter.  I had my first volunteer shift on Saturday at our local animal shelter WAG (Whistler Animals Galore).  I didn't think volunteer work could be so much fun, I had a blast!  My job that morning was to take Precious out for some exercise.  I definitely got my puppy fix for the day.  What a sweet girl she is.  I don't think it will be long before she's adopted out of the shelter :)

No More Avoiding

I've been avoiding my blog for a while now.  I just haven't felt artsy or crafty lately.  I'm finding it very difficult to do any crafts lately as I don't have any workspace in our teeny tiny home (only 400 sq ft).  Having to sit on the hot kitchen floor to do any work and then worrying about cleaning everything up every time I finish or take a break, whether or not I've finished my project, has taken a lot of the joy out of creating.  I'm trying not to think about it too much but I couldn't use that as my excuse for avoiding my blog any further.

Since I don't have any new projects to show everyone right now I thought I would do the next best thing and show off some of my sister's art.  Enjoy!

Goldfish and Koi Fish

I think goldfish and koi fish make the most wonderful art subjects.  Here are a few different artists who have used these fish in their work.

"Blow Fish" by Nanami Cowdroy.

"Bubbles" by Anne Patzke.

N-Deck Art by Nanami Cowdroy.

"My Mug" by Schin Loong.
